__ Feldklasse hoeing technology for pumpkins

From traditional tools to intelligent systems: The future of pumpkin hoeing

98% of the field surface cultivated in pumpkin crops

When hoeing pumpkin crops not only between the rows but also within the rows, the cultivated area increases from 70% to up to 98% of the field surface. The Zurama’s AI camera detects every plant precisely, even when large weeds look similar, partially cover the pumpkin plant or the plant grows sideways at a later stage. The key factor is that the origin of the plant is detected precisely.
Powerful and dynamic: The hydraulically controlled selective knives work quickly and precisely. Working speeds of up to 5 km/h are possible without compromising accuracy.

High weed control quality in organic farming

The Zurama controls weeds very precisely between and within the rows. This can significantly reduce the need for additional manual weeding in organic farming.

The goal: very high weed control quality, fewer remaining weeds and clean crops, even without chemical weed control.

Hoeing strategy for pumpkins

With pumpkins, it is essential to keep the crop clean and protected throughout every growth stage. The Zurama adapts to the plant stage, leaf development and row cultivation.

1st hoeing pass

From the first true leaf stage, the selective knives work close to the pumpkin plant. The soil is directed away from the row to prevent young seedlings from being buried.

Protecting young plants

During the first hoeing passes, angled shares support the process. They direct additional soil away from the row and protect the crop from being buried.

Further hoeing passes

Hoeing continues every 2 to 3 weeks. To cultivate beneath the pumpkin leaves, the angled shares are replaced with duckfoot shares.

Late growth stage

The selective modules can be folded up. Hoeing then takes place only between the rows using large duckfoot shares, while the automatic row guidance remains active.
