Zurama for sugar beet: precision from the cotyledon stage
The Zurama’s AI camera reliably detects every individual sugar beet plant, even under heavy weed pressure and from the cotyledon stage onwards.
The rotating selective knives operate with reduced soil throw and allow working speeds of up to 3.5 km/h until the fourth true leaf stage, and up to 5 km/h thereafter.
Compared with conventional hoeing machines, which cultivate around 70% of the soil surface, the Zurama achieves up to 98% cultivated soil surface.
The result: Precise hoeing around every plant, fewer remaining weeds and up to 30% less manual weeding.
Hoeing strategy for sugar beet
The first hoeing pass takes place once all sugar beet plants have emerged and most plants have already developed one true leaf. Further hoeing passes depend on the weed pressure. Between the rows, the angled blades can be replaced with duckfoot shares.Shortly before row closure: The selective modules can be folded up. At this stage, cultivation between the rows with duckfoot shares via the inter-row modules is sufficient, while the AI camera system continues to provide active automatic row guidance.
