With a row spacing of 3 cm, there is hardly any room for hoeing. With a row spacing of 7 cm, around 57% of the bed surface can be cultivated – exactly where a large proportion of the weeds grow.

The right row spacing
From a technical perspective, a row spacing of 5 cm is sufficient for hoeing. From 7 cm, however, the process becomes significantly more efficient: more workable surface area, better weed control and consistently stable yields. Farms that approximately doubled their row spacing from 4.5 cm achieved the same yield with the same seeding rate per m², while significantly increasing the weed control rate.Our recommendation: If the leaves are intended to remain small: approximately 7 cm row spacing. If leaf size is less important: approximately 10 cm row spacing.
